OVERVIEW

Howdy y’all. If you haven’t heard of it before, Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina is a pretty sick place! It’s got all the mountain biking, whitewater kayaking, climbing, and hiking your heart could ever desire (and I’m sure some other outdoorsy awesomeness too)! So come with us on a magical journey to this dope area only 6 hours away!

Please read the entire trip description before signing up and fill out our google form, thanks. https://forms.gle/NyeTLZPbEZdK7doSA

This is just the carpool to Pisgah; this is how we will keep track of drivers and attendees. You won’t be let off of this waitlist for this carpool until you have JOINED an actual Pisgah trip.

Similarly, if you’re going on another Pisgah trip, you must also sign up for this carpool, even if you are driving there or back with the trip you are signed up for.

Trip leaders- if you want to lead a trip, email us (pfr3yq@virginia.edu & xsc9gq@virginia.edu) with the details! Once we approve your trip idea, post it and we’ll approve it on the website. Please note that we have limited capacity for trips and participants.

By signing up for this carpool, YOU ARE COMMITTING TO ATTENDING PISGAH. We understand that things come up, but it’s *not* *mad* *chill* to drop last minute and take the spot of someone who really wanted to go. Be a good human, do the right thing. If you have to drop (especially if you are a driver), you must contact one of us or the officers ASAP.

Foods- you will be responsible for your own food. That’s 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 3-4 dinners depending on when you arrive and how long you stay. You also need utensils/cookware for whatever you decide to bring, so plan ahead. You might also want to bring $$ for food if you and people in your car want to grab some food on the way down or back.

If you have your own camping gear, please bring it. If you don’t have your own camping gear, please let us know what club gear you need in the google form: https://forms.gle/NyeTLZPbEZdK7doSA

Whatever you need for your respective adventures; the Trip Leader will specify what gear they are bringing and what you are responsible for getting in the trip description.

Many a water bottle/camelbak. We will be bringing our large club water jugs to fill up from a nearby campground.

Warm clothes & layers (believe it or not, the mountains of North Carolina get a little chilly in March – historic temperatures for this time of year are highs in the low 60s and lows in the high 30s). Think quick-dry, non-cotton stuff. Be prepared for rain.

The departure time set for this (4:20pm) is NOT necessarily when you will leave. You may leave earlier/later depending on what trip(s) you sign up for and when you indicate that you can leave Charlottesville. Similarly, you may return to Charlottesville earlier or later than the listed return time of 9pm. Refer to your Trip Leader(s) to communicate about ride plans if you sign up for a trip on the way out or the way back. We will send out carpool info for everyone else closer to the departure date. We will make sure everyone gets a ride both ways.

Finally, a note about camping. We’re planning to camp primitively in a roadside dispersed campsite. This is great since it’s free! However, there will be no amenities. We will bring water jugs for drinking water and shovels for going to the bathroom. Please familiarize yourself with the principles of Leave No Trace, if you aren’t familiar (https://lnt.org/why/7-principles/). We want the forest to be as pretty when we leave as when we arrive!

As always, hit us up if you have any questions:
