Slaughter Recreation Center, Edgemont Road, Charlottesville, VA, USA
Hellooo fellow beings of Shred!!! Much like a forest ecosystem, the communities of us humans here in Charlottesville are oft bustling and abound with uniqueness. Corinne and I often find ourselves enamored — tickled, even — by the wonders of both plant and human life around us, and we would like to offer our friendship to all of it…SO, what better way to do this than to cook up a CLUB COLLAB IN DA WOODS!!
Join us this Friday from 12-1 PM atop our wondrous Observatory Hill for some plant ID / creative nature walk alongside our friends and fellow students in the Office of Sustainability!! OFS is bringing along someone in their Equity & The Environment department to speak on the importance of promoting equity in outdoor spaces, and we’re hoping this can be a very inclusive space to be ourselves outside, meet some new plants and humans, and emerge forth into the weekend feeling more connected to life as it abounds. We’ll gather at high noon at Slaughter, munch on some snacks as we discuss these themes of equity and the outdoors, then amble along our Slaughter trail (designed and built by your fellow shredlings a few years ago!!!) to do some relaxed plant ID and learn about native plants in the corridor.
This trip is meant to create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere for everyone, so come one and come all regardless of trail experience, and we’d love to co-create this space of adventure and care alongside you. 🙂
SEE YOU WONDERFUL HUMANS THERE!!!
