Corner of Echols
Gentle Acres Animal Haven, McClure Boulevard, Fairfield, VA, USA
Hello all
This Sunday we are going to Gentle Acres Animal Haven (https://www.gentleacresanimalhaven.org/) and planting some apple trees. At the beginning of the semester there was a trip where we started a small garden there, and adding fruit trees is the next step in helping the animal haven become for self sufficient. Apples are considered a prime treat by the animals there and hopefully our new trees will give them a near endless supply. Besides planting the trees I am sure we will also be able to say hi to the many residents there including cows, sheep, goats, pigs, cats, and dogs. Its a beautiful place.
Also, Skylar, Emi, and I are particularly into trips focused on service and sustainability in the club. If you’d like to learn more about that/want to lead those kind of trips yourself we would love to talk about it.
Plan.
Leave Charlottesville from Echols around 12
Arrive at Gentle Acres around 1.
Plant trees + visit animals. This could take anywhere from 1-3 hours but we will leave by 4.
Get back to Charlottesville around 5.
What to bring.
Clothes that will keep you warm + can get very dirty.
If your hands get cold and you have them then gloves
Water
A snack isnt a bad idea
Hope to see you there
