OVERVIEW

Hello my fellow ODC comrades,

Pat and I are looking to head out to the New for the 100 millionth time this semester, except this time to stay for the weekend! If you haven’t climbed at the New, I PROMISE you it will change your life forever, and also possibly humble you as a sport climber. With that being said, I encourage you to join if you have some experience with lead and are looking to possibly push yourself, and face your fears of lead climbing. While prior experience is preferred, you do not need to be a master of lead climbing to join this trip, as I still sometimes want to cry and pee pee on the wall. I’d be happy to set up top ropes too. It may rain one of the days, and if so we will most likely be going to First Buttress at Upper Meadow, where the easiest dry route is 10c (a fun route called Lady Punk). Where we go is of course up to negotiation, but Pat and I are really liking Upper Meadow right now, and might stick to First, Second, and Third Buttress. Second buttress also has a really fun 5.7 to do as a warmup. Might I add that Abhinav might send his season-long project on this trip, and it’s a spectacle to see him work it (he knows how to work it).

As of right now we only have one car so unless drivers join, the trip limit will be set to 3. If more people join, drivers will be needed and appreciated (and reimbursed + 50% tip!).

The Plan:
Leave Charlottesville Friday night, or early Saturday morning if need be
Camp at Ray’s Campground (where we do NRGE)
Climb climb climb all day saturday
Get back to camp and revel in our love of the sport and each other
Wake up
Climb until people need to leave (can be determined by text groupchat this week, could be all day)

Cooking stuff (pocket rocket, pot) if you plan on cooking stuff
