Corner of Echols
The Priest Wilderness Parking Area, Unnamed Road, Tyro, VA, USA
Sup yall. Palmer and I are back at it with a shenandoan spring series hike. This week’s traversing is of the priest, a pretty gnarly straight up and down ~3000 feet of elevation gain trail that I’ve heard has some good views. Last week there were some sweet wildflowers and wildlife, so I’m hoping to catch some more of that once more. Ever heard a Louisiana Waterthrush? If you have, sweeeet. If you haven’t, now’s your chance.
Now, this is a fairly strenuous and difficult trail. We’ll take some breaks, but this isn’t necessarily a great first hiking experience. Those with experience doing 9 or more miles (9 is how long the priest is) will get priority off the waitlist.
Drivers get priority off the waitlist too, as always.
Make sure you bring enough water, sunscreen, the proper shoes, whatever suits your fancy. Bring enough water though. Otherwise we’ll perish of thirst
