Rambunctiously Ravaging (Old) Rag

OVERVIEW

Dearest ODC Members,

I bring harrowing news… Old Rag hasn’t seen our faces in a long time and is beginning to doubt our mountain-conquering prowess. Already it slanders ODC, questioning if all our clout is to be believed and trusted – I hear the trees are beginning to listen. We face at this very moment a journey of extreme peril (chill hike) to prove our club worthy of our gnar. This Saturday, we shall face this offense and proceed to have a wonderful time hiking up/down and chilling at the top of Old Rag. The plan is simple: leave Echols around 6:30AM if possible (can push back if necessary, but later starts = more crowded), start hike around 8, have lunch at the top, and be back in CVille by 3pm at the latest.

***This circuit can take anywhere between 4 and 6 hours, spans 9.2 miles, and has an elevation gain of 2500 feet. There are also some rock scrambles that lead AllTrails to label this route as Hard. If this is a concern, reach out to me and we can figure it out from there! ***

*What to bring/wear: at least 2L of water and a hearty lunch + snacks to ensure hanger doesn’t occur (and electrolytes if you’re feeling fancy), shoes with good grip, athletic clothing, sunscreen, wicking socks if you have any

*I will bring a first aid kit, extra water, and some sunscreen [try to bring your own, I don’t have much right now]
