OVERVIEW

Definition (from about.com):
‘Rappelling is the practice of sliding down a rope in a controlled manner. There are several ways to rappel, the safest and most common way is with the use of a harness, locking carabineer and a belay device. The rope is fed through the device to add friction as the person controls the rate of descent. Climbers, Spelunkers and the Armed Forces use rappelling to safely descend steep slopes and rocks.’

Everybody is welcome to sign up, no prior experience required. but if you are a climber and planning to do more advanced climbing in future like multipitches this is highly recommended.

I will show you different rappelling systems and backups (safety) and we practice them. One of these methods is a hand free set up which can be used for photography while hanging or rescue missions.

It may be cold so bring lot’s of layers. Hiking shoes are appropriate. Warm Hat and gloves also are helpful.

we will be back at about five.

Club provides everything,
you bring snacks, water, camera if you have.
