OVERVIEW

It’s been a minute since I’ve climbed on limestone, so I’m itching to head out to Reeds Creek for some sport climbing. I was planning to climb mostly in the 5.8-5.10 range, but Reeds Creek has routes down to 5.6 and up to 5.12, so a little something for almost everyone. There also happen to be several trad lines in the 5.7-5.9+ range if anyone is into that. Mountain Project: https://www.mountainproject.com/area/109444384/reeds-creek

This will be a kind of a chill day of hanging with cool people over some rocks. Ideally, you should know how to sport (lead) climb, although I would be happy to take someone new to lead climbing so long as there are enough lead climbers that sign up for this trip.

We’ll get an early start, leaving Grounds around 7am. We’ll get to the crag around 9am, climb until 4pm, and then get back to UVa around 6pm with plenty of time to shower, smell nice (if that’s what you’re into), and get schnazzy before the ODC Formal-ish (you were going to that, right? be there or be less cool than you could be).

You bring:
– harness
– helmet
– belay device + locking biner
– climbing shoes
– chalk bag + chalk
– personal climbing gear if desired
– lunch
– snacks
– water
– at least one jammy tune for the car ride, preferably one with high artistic value that is satisfying to analyze

I bring:
– ropes
– quickdraws
– stick clip
– anchor building materials
– maybe the trad rack if anyone wants to have that for ground practice or for some of the easy to moderate trad lines here
