Reed’s Creek Vertical Sufferfest (aka Climbing Marathon)

What’s up CAMPERS????

I have this idea where I prefer quantity over quality and so I figured why not do every (easy-ish) route at a crag in one day. So we’re doing that. There’s a few different ways we could do this. I’m thinking maybe make it a kind of relay where we have teams of two alternating climbs and then each person on the team will lead something and then either clean it immediately or if its cool the other person can lead it as well. We’ll keep track of who does what and write down some thoughts for future reference, maybe leave some comments on mountain project. I’d like to climb everything 5.9 and lower and so mtn project says there’s 1 5.6, 7 5.7s, 14 5.8s, and 13 5.9s, so each person would be doing roughly 9 climbs through the day with average difficulty between 5.8 and 5.9. The focus here is not so much strength or technical ability but endurance and saving energy during each climb. If we feel really crazy we can do some harder stuff, or repeat some of them, but I’d really like to take this day to just try to do as many easy climbs as we can. Also, we’re gonna calculate how many vertical feet we ascend throughout the day for FUN so look forward to that!!

The PLAN:
Pick up everyone at 5am and leave for Reed’s, stopping for food along the way
8am arrive at Reed’s and start our conquest
11am 1st lunch of the day to stay fueled
12pm-2pm climb more!!
2-3pm second lunch
3pm – sunset finish our challenge and maybe do more stuff
Sunset to 9pm – pack up and drive home, maybe stopping for a sit-down dinner otw back

I will bring:
2 ropes
24 draws
Cleaning gear
Belay devices

You will bring:
Helmet
Harness
Climbing shoes
Chalk
Lots of food or money for it
Lots of water (2 Liters minimum)
