Revelry. Chivalry. Foolery. (Mystical fairytale backpacking @ Dragon’s tooth)

OVERVIEW

Greetings fellow traveler! Noosh and I need help embarking on a great quest: backpacking to dragon’s tooth.
The journey to the summit is short (2 miles) and there’s some rock scramblin action towards the top (last 0.8 miles) so make sure to wear good hiking boots. All Trails describes it as a strenuous hike with challenging rock scrambles, but this trip is a beginner backpacking trip and should be nothing that a few enthusiastic and nimble adventurers can’t handle.

We’ll meet at echols dorm at 3 pm, get everything loaded up and drive to Catawba VA to begin our ascent to the magestical monolith known as dragon’s tooth. If we’re feeling spunky we can climb up the tooth and see some 360 views. After dinner we can get all cozy in our tents and reflect on our epic triumphs. We’ll wake up around sunrise (6:30 am), eat breakfast, and head on out. We should be back in cville around noon, and if anyone is going to creekathon (Anusha and I are!) then I can drive us straight there.

Schedule
Friday
3 pm- meet at corner of echols
5 pm- arrive at trailhead
6:30 pm – arrive to summit & set up camp
7:30 pm – sunset
8:00 pm – dinna, storytelling, shlump

Saturday
6:30 am – wake up for sunrise and bfast
7:30 am – pack up and hike down
9 am – back to cars
Before noon – arrived back in cville (If anyone is going to creekathon I can drive)

To bring:
-backpacking backpack
-sleeping bag and sleeping pad
-WATER (3-4 Liters)!!!!!
-hiking shoes
-clothes + layers (it might get chilly)
-rain jacket/ poncho
-headlamp
-dinner, breakfast, and snacks (we can coordinate meals)
-bowl and utensils
-trashbag to rainproof clothes and gear
We will bring:
– Tents
– Pocket rocket, pot, and fuel

If you’re missing any gear on the list grab it from the gear room! Gear room hours are sent out via email every week and if you have any questions / need Anusha or I to pick up gear for you just text one of us (Anusha: 571-455-0721, Cam: 703-488-8892).

**DRIVER NEEDED** Drivers get priority off the waitlist + gas reimbursement and 50% tip (drivers must arrive with a full tank of gas to be eligible for reimbursement)
