Courtyard At Walker Square
Rivanna River
Since a lot of us spend time outdoors at places like the Rivanna, either kayaking, biking or hiking, i was thinking it would be nice to give a little bit back to the community.
This is the perfect opportunity for those of us who love the outdoors and care about the environment and making a difference. Come join other conservationists both on land and on the water and be part of a larger effort to clean up waterways across the state and across the nation. Get outside and enjoy a wonderful time of year while helping beautify your community and protect the environment.
On Saturday, August 25, 2007 beginning at 10:00 a.m. the Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District and Rivanna Conservation Society will be hosting a river clean-up (Rain date August 26).
All are welcome to participate for any amount of time and any skill-level.
Garbage bags, gloves, snacks will be provided, but come prepared; it is recommended that you bring rugged footwear, long pants and long sleeved shirts against poison ivy, in addition to lunch, water, hat, sunscreen.
I changed the location from Echols to Walker Square to avoid being at the heart of the 1st year dorm move-in activities. Contact me if you need more specific directions
