RIVANNA TRAIL FULL PULL

OVERVIEW

Hey y’all!!

It is that magical time of year where the birds are singing, peepers are chirping, and the trees and plants are budding. What better way to celebrate spring than spend a morning running the whole Rivanna trail?? This has been a bucket list item for me for a while and I’d love to share the experience with anyone who feels up for a challenge/has a much better sense of direction than I do.

The Rivanna Trail is an awesome, mostly dirt but some paved sections 22ish mile trail that goes around Charlottesville! I have been on sections but have never done the whole thing. There are lots of different stops along the way for refueling and checking out the gorgeous scenery. Here’s the map on their website if you wanna check it out: https://www.rivannatrails.org/Explore

I typically run a 10-11 min pace on long runs, but I want this to be fun and not terribly painful so there will be plenty of walking involved!!! I also am trying to post this a little ahead of time if you want to train a bit before to prepare. If you want to hike/bike instead of run or wanna peel off earlier, still feel free to sign up! I will cheer you along as I shuffle my way down the trail.

The plan:
0745: meet at Atlas Coffee parking lot to begin our quest [2206 Fontaine Ave Ext, Charlottesville, VA 22903] 0800: hop on trail where it crosses near Fontaine Research Facility and start running/power walking/jogging
1230: hopefully be done and back at Atlas Coffee! Eat yummy snacks, have coffee and water, etc!

What to bring:
-Water in a portable, easy-to-run-with container! I have a little backpack thing I wear
-Carb based snacks (i.e: gels, bars, pretzels, etc)
-Money/phone in case you want snacks along the way
