Rivanna Trail Lite Hike – Fontaine Avenue to 5th Street

OVERVIEW

This will be approximately a 6-mile out-and-back hike on the Rivanna Trail –
3 miles from Fontaine Avenue to 5th Street and 3 miles back to Fontaine
Avenue. Be prepared for a moderately easy hike on a dirt track interrupted
by some short road walks, a walk through a tiny bamboo forest,
and three stream crossings (one using an overhead cable for balance).
Muddy conditions are likely around the stream crossings – be prepared for possible damp or wet shoes/boots on this hike.

I will keep a quick pace. The plan is to finish by 7:30pm.

Gear:
Hiking shoes/boots, snacks, hiking poles (optional), water, rain gear, (head)lamp (recommended, the sunset is around 7PM).
