Riverside Camping!

OVERVIEW

Hello fellow ODC members, and welcome back from summer break! And what could be a better start to the semester than enjoying the outdoors while it’s still warm by embarking on a riverside camping trip? I’ll be leading y’all on a trip to a campground near Luray on the South Fork of the Shenandoah, at the end of Riverwater Rd; we’ll be leaving from Echols at 3:30 PM Friday, 8/30 and returning by 7:00 PM on Sunday, 9/1. The campsites here are directly on the riverfront, there are a few good places to hike in the area if we get bored of the water, and best of all, it’s free! My car can nominally fit 7 people besides myself, but hauling a bunch of camping equipment changes that, so drivers are wanted. Speaking of equipment, here’s what you’ll need:
Tent
Sleeping bag and pillow
Bedroll or mattress (optional but recommended)
Chair
Flashlight and headlamp, along with spare batteries
Cooler and ice for storing food (unless you bring strictly non-perishables)
Bug spray
Sunscreen
Toothpaste and toothbrush
Toilet paper
Hand sanitizer
Cordage (for securing trash away from animals, etc.)
~8L water (enough to last you 48 hours)
Food sufficient for the same amount of time
Clothing suitable for outdoors (including a hat, important for sun protection and avoiding bugs!)
Bathing suit, watershoes & towel (if you plan on swimming)
Charger pack (only very spotty cell service, but for in case we need to make calls on the way back!)
Entertainment (board/card games, frisbee, speaker, etc.)

Also some things that I’ll be bringing to share, but wouldn’t hurt to bring yourself:
Cookware & utensils (if someone has fireproof gloves though that’d be great)
Trash bags
Scrubber
Lighters & lighter fluid
