Road Biking

OVERVIEW

We will go biking down the rolling roads of the Charlottesville countryside. We’ll do an easy 16 mile ride in unseasonably warm and beautiful weather, although if everyone who signs up wants to do something longer (and in the past most people said they could have gone longer) we can go for a thirty mile loop which would take us past farms, cows, sheep and other pretty stuff.

The club has 5 nice mountain bikes, water bottles, and helmets you can borrow if you don’t have one. If you will be supplying your own bike, while it doesn’t need to be a $1000 road bike, I wouldn’t recommend using a heavy bike like a Huffy or Murray. If you got your bike at toys r us or Wal-Mart or some place like that, then chances are it’s too heavy. If in doubt, send me an email with a description of your bike.

If you are supplying your own bike, you must bring a helmet and water. It would probably also be a good idea to bring a small snack like a power bar to eat during the ride (don’t want to run out of energy!)

I set the trip size to 6 since we only have 5 bikes we can lend, but if you have your own bike, go ahead and sign up even if it’s full and I’ll add you in.
