Rumbling Bald Rock Climbing!

OVERVIEW

Have the urge to crimp, smear, stem, and jam your way up some stone?! Come enjoy Rumbling Bald this weekend! Rumbling Bald has it all; trad, sport, bouldering, and some sick multi-pitch climbing all on super nice gneiss!) It also makes a perfect winter destination as it faces south and has mild winters. The forecast for the weekend also looks promising; 50s and sunny!

We will leave UVA at 6 pm on Friday and head straight to the campground near Bat Cave, NC, which is about 5.5 hours away. After solid days of climbing on Saturday and Sunday, we’ll head back to C’ville around 5 pm on Sunday.

I will bring a stove and basic cook set for people to use, but you are responsible for bringing your own food. There are very few stores open in the area during the winter as it is a summer tourists town, so bring food for the whole weekend. I will also provide the tents.

What you need to bring:
-Climbing shoes
-Climbing harness
-Climbing helmet
-Climbing chalk and chalk bag
-Belay device
-Food/money for food
-Water
-Camping gear (sleeping bag/pad, headlamp, etc…)
-Rain gear

What the Club Provides:
-Camping fees
-Gas
-Gear, if you need it (go to a open gear room if you need anything)
