Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Bearfence Mountain Trail
Daylight savings time ends in less than 2 weeks, which mean it is prime time for sunrises! Yes, this one is for all of you who love your beds dearly but also aspire to bear witness to the glorious commencement of a new day from atop a mountain with some of Charlottesville’s finest folk.
The Bearfence sunrise last Saturday was spectacular, and I expect this Saturday’s to be similarly superb.
So in short:
1.) This is about the longest you’ll ever be able to sleep for a sunrise
2.) It’s getting to be peak foliage time in Shenandoah so viewsssss
3.) The hike is super short and oh so sweet
If you’re not convinced already, there may or may not be a baked treat for everybody to enjoy at the top.
Leave Echols @6 right after some of our braver souls depart for Old Rag, get to the trailhead ~7, walk about 13.652 minutes to the top, catch the sunrise @ 7:35 and hangout for bit, hike back down and be back on grounds some time around 9:00, but definitely no later than 9:30.
