Bonnycastle Circle
Little Stony Man Cliffs
We’re going to Little Stony Man summit and Little Stony Man Cliffs on the Shenandoah National Park, and having lunch at 4000ft (or thereabouts). (;
We’ll warm up with an easy hike from the parking lot to the summit, before hiking about 1.5 miles up to the cliff face for lunch. This is a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside west of the mountains. You can see Luray, and the new three series of mountains in the distance on a sunny day (which is Saturday’s supposed to be).
This is a short uphill hike of about 4 miles total and our pace will be relaxed (as hikes should). If we have time (we should finish by after 12 latest and be back after 1 – in time for other Saturday activities) and depending on how people feel we will hit the 2 mile Bearface trail for some rock scrambling and a wonderful 360 degree view.
I’m going to waitlist everyone and email again tomorrow to see how many drivers we have.
Bring warm clothing (it’s windy up there), food for lunch (bars, cereal, sandwiches, apples, bananas, cookies, more if you want to share) and enough water for an hour or so of hiking.
Club pays for gas and entrance to the park.
