Saturday Camp Rapidan Hike(History ?!) !

OVERVIEW

Hello everyone! I was hoping to do a hike this Saturday, specifically a loop around Rapidan Camp. It is about 7.3 miles, and 1354 feet of elevation gain, meaning I would expect somewhat of a strenuous ascent(Moderate Difficulty imo). For those who don’t know, Rapidan Camp is one of the old presidential getaways by President Hoover, one of the Depression Dudes, as he liked to be called(Famously, he fired his chief of staff when he attempted to adopt a new nickname for the president-Recession Rick). Anyway, bad jokes aside, you get to see this beautiful, historic site, and then hike up to Hazeltop, one of the grand vistas in the park. It’s somewhat of a drive, at about an hour. I have a NP park pass and a vehicle, so all you have to bring are your amazing selves! The weather looks good at the moment, we should be in the mid 40’s with overcast skies, so maybe pants and a jacket?
