Saturday Rock Scrambling at Devil’s Marbleyard

OVERVIEW

Hey y’all,

After an (aborted) canyoneering trip in Moab, I’m looking to get back into rock climbing now that the weather’s warming up. Devil’s Marbleyard is a massive boulder field with plenty of fun scrambling and climbing – no ropes, just moving over rocks and picking your own adventure. And we get a wonderful view of the surrounding valley from the top of the scramble!

Finn and I both have cars, so no drivers are needed. If things don’t run too late (as ODC trips tend to), we might swing by Natural Bridge afterward since it’s only about 15 minutes from the trailhead.

What to bring:
– Water
– Food/snacks
– A bag
– Gloves if you get cuts on your hands
– Closed toe shoes (using sandals to rock scramble will not end well)
– A camera if ya want

Rough schedule:
10:00 – Leave echols
11:30 – Arrive at trailhead
12:30/45 – Get to base of rock scramble
1:30/2 – Get to the top, chill, eat, enjoy the view
3 – start heading down
5-5:30 – get to the bottom
6-7 – Check out natural bridge? – can be changed if ppl need to be back in cville sooner
8-8:30 – Back in cville
