Saturday Sunrise at Bearfence

OVERVIEW

Hello, it’s me. Who wants to go for an ~exciting~ and ~stress free~ sunrise hike out to Bearfence Mountain this Saturday morning? The weather is supposed to be perfect, the leaves are changing, AND I’ll have you back in time to watch UVA beat Boston College if that’s something you’re emotionally invested in!! Bearfence has awesome ratings on the Outbound – some people say it even has the best views in all of SNP!! Wow!!! It’s about a one mile hike with a rock scramble at the top, the rock scramble is optional depending on which way we approach the summit but we can vote on it as a group when we all convene in the morning. With or without the rock scramble, it’s an easy approximately 1 mile hike!

Logistics:
Get to Echols around 5:30am – leave NO LATER THAN 5:40 am!! It will make me sad but I will have to leave anyone who is late behind
5:40 am – Drive about an hour to the trail head
6:40 am – Hike for about 30 minutes to the summit
7:28 am – dat sunrise :’)
8ish? – hike back down to the cars
Leave the trailhead no later than 8:45
Back in Cville by 10:00 am!! Wow!! Look at that. So efficient and fun

You bring:
Headlamp/flashlight/night vision if you have super powers
Warm layers – it’s gonna be CHILLY!! Yay
Water
Breakfast… Although I may or may not be baking a surprise
Sturdy shoes in case we do the rock scramble
$5 or SNP Pass
Your smiling face

DRIVERS NEEDED!! I can only bring 4 other people until more drivers sign up. Drivers will be prioritized on the wait list. The club will reimburse you for gas and a 50% tip!!! Incredible.
