Service Trip: Trail Workday at Byrom Forest Preserve Park in Crozet

OVERVIEW

Howdy howdy!

I know that almost everyone here appreciates the simplicity and beauty of hiking. I know that it holds a very special place in my heart among outdoors activities. Often hiking would be impractical or impossible without a well-maintained trail. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO GIVE BACK!

We will be helping make/maintain trails at Byrom Forest Preserve Park in Crozet. We will meet at Echols around 8:00am, arrive at the park around 9:00am and then work until noon (at which time we’ll head back).

I don’t have a car, so everyone will be wait listed until someone with a car signs up. Gas is reimbursed, and drivers have wait list priority.

Below is the email from the organizer. It includes what to bring!

“Hey folks,

We will hosting another Saturday morning workday this weekend from 9am-12noon. We have been making some great progress on the new trail but there is still a lot that needs to be done before completion. Hope see you out there!

Directions from town (takes about 45 minutes from C-ville):

1. Follow Garth Road from town to the Piedmont Store in Whitehall
2. Go around the curve to the right onto Route 810 (do not go straight to Sugar Hollow)
3. Follow Route 810 for 7.8 miles and the park entrance will be on the left”
