OVERVIEW

Howdy

Note: this trip is specifically for people who have voted early or by mail. Please prioritize voting over our leafy rocky suffery MTB trip.

Sherando Lake is a GWNF gem only 45 minutes away. It’s the first place I ever went for a backcountry MTB ride and has some awesome trails. Phillip (the handsome man pictured above) picked out a lovely route: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/map-november-2-2022-03227b9?u=i. We’re planning on pedaling all of it (no shuttle), so be prepared for about 37 miles with 5300′ of climbing. This will include the 7 switchbacks from heaven (sometimes incorrectly referred to as the 7 switchbacks from hell).

Check out these links to get an idea for the trails we’re riding:

***PLEASE READ***
This trail is a real VA backcountry ride. It has lots of rocks, is steep in spots, there are fallen leaves on the ground, and there might not be cell coverage in some areas. There are creek crossings that you might have to dismount the bike to walk across. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER RIDE. Please only sign up if you are comfortable on a mountain bike, and are of advanced level. That being said, you don’t need to be a pro to have fun on this ride. If you are comfortable riding most of the Ohill trails, or have done some biking in GWNF before, then you should be fine. If you have questions/concerns, text me (Max) or Phillip at 617-780-1129, 571-332-3740.
