Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Fountainhead Regional Park
Come out and shred the mother of all Nothern Virginia mtb trails, Fountainhead. This gem is located approximately 2 hours north of UVA in Fairfax Station, VA. The mountain bike trail is a single use series of loops that feature multiple short, steep climbs and several fast descents. The trail a green beginner loop of about 3 miles, an intermediate loop and an advanced loop. The advanced loop starts with an entrance that earns you the rock star award if you make it due to the steep incline, artfully placed rock step ups and a wooden hairpin turn. Other features include drops, multiple rock gardens going up and down hill and super sweet jumps. The black loop will keep your heart pounding from both hard short climbs and thrilling descents. Fountainhead will put a smile on your face that will last for days.
We will be doing all three loops for a total of 11.5 miles, it is all MTB only directional singletrack, so we will not have to deal with riders or hikers coming the other direction. Fountainhead is not beginner friendly, you build up speed very quickly, and have to know how to control it, that is why this is a intermediate/advanced trip.

Transportation:
I do need drivers for this trip, so I’m limiting it to 4 for now.
What to bring:
– Shred attire
– Water (2-3L)
– Pack for water and other accesories
– Bike/helmet
– Snacks
Plan:
-Meet at brick wall at 9
-Drive to fountainhead, be on the trails by 11:30
-Bike all three loops (Average time is roughly 2 hours)
-Return home by 4
