Slackline/Biking SmöRgåSbord @ Creekathon

OVERVIEW

In honor of Jane Goodall’s birthday today, this trip will seek to honor the evolution of humans from their primate ancestors. The plan is to start in a tree, where we originally belonged, and learn how to cross from one tree to another without touching the ground or using our fancy opposable thumbs. In other words, I’m teaching you how to slackline. Look it up on the Googs.

Over the course of the day, we will feed our brains with the nutrients unlocked through the grilling of packaged meat and veggie products (check out Michael Pollan’s “Cooked”). Following our transformation, we will casually transition to the high-tech machinery that our large brains allowed us to build and ride – mountain bikes. I’ll give beginners a run down on that as well on the sweet trail system in Walnut Creek Park, where our tribe will be occupying a pavilion throughout the day.

All evolutionary dramas aside, signing up for this trip is primarily for intermediate mountain biking. ONLY sign up for this trip if you plan on doing both. I’ll set up enough slacklines for everyone at Creekathon to give it a try, so don’t worry if you don’t get off the waitlist. Make sure you sign up for the Creekathon Main Carpool adventure so there’s enough food!

Finally, the weather on Saturday is looking a bit moist. If there is too much rain this week or on Saturday then we will not be able to ride. Nonetheless, we will definitely go get our feet wet on slacklines, regardless of the weather. This club doesn’t joke around.

What to bring:
– Feet

– Day pack with any goodies you deem necessary
