Snap that Classic Pic for the ‘Gram: McAfee Knob Hike

OVERVIEW

If you’ve ever seen photos of that epic looking spot where a person is sitting on a ledge that overhangs in to seeming nothingness, you’ll know why McAfee Knob is worth seeing. It’s a fairly popular hike, and rightfully so. The views at the top are great, overlooking the entire Catawba valley.

The hike itself is pretty straightforward. It’s about an 8 mile hike with about 1700ft of elevation gain. That means it’s not terribly steep, so this is a great hike for beginners and seasoned outdoorsfolk alike.

Schedule:
11:00 – Leave Echols
1:00 – Arrive at trailhead and start hiking
5:00 – Back at car
7:00 – Back at Echols
