OVERVIEW

While the Lawn is a scenic location for acro, we’re looking for some more mountain air this round. Let’s head up to Shenandoah National Park for this week’s acro yoga practice. We’ll hike up Little Calf Mountain, which is a low key 1.7 mile out-and-back hike with several grassy patches where we can settle in for some acro and mountain gazing. We’ll also plan to bring some apple cider and a camp stove, so bring a mug if you want some hot cider.

For those who aren’t familiar with acro, it’s a form of partner yoga that emphasizes trust in each other, often with poses that involve stretching, communicating, and elevating/being elevated above the ground. The poses can range from simple and easy to quite challenging. No one will be asked to do anything they feel unsafe doing, but we will take turns acting as spotters so people can try new or challenging things. No prior experience necessary – come as you are.

The plan is to meet at the Student Activities Building at 3:30pm, start hiking aroudn 4pm, do acro for an hour or two, then hike back and return to Grounds around 7pm.

Also, because this is a partner practice, either sign up with someone you feel comfortable with or come willing to make some new friends πŸ™‚

Bring:
– yourself in clothes you can do yoga & potentially get muddy in
– a partner (optional)
– a yoga mat or towel if you want something between you and the grass (optional)
– water (definitely a good idea always)
– a mug if you want cider
– layers for warmth
