Bonnycastle Circle
South River Falls
Need a break from studying? Come out for a short enjoyable hike to the third largest waterfall at Shenandoah National Forest. We will depart from Bonnycastle circle at 10 AM. The hike will start from mile 62.8 on skyline drive at South River Picnic Area parking lot. The trail is 4.5 miles long and moderate in skill level. This may take 2-3 hours with 1-1.5 hours more for lunch and a refreshing dip in the pool. Depending on the energy level and the interests we can do another 1.2 mile challenging hike on Bearfence Rock scramble with a great 360 deg view (mile 56.5 on Skyline drive – starts from Bearfence Mountain Parking lot).
Things to get:
Hiking or Tennis shoes
Bathing suit
Water/Gatorade (2-3 lts)
Lunch and Snacks
Adventure spirit
Personal First-aid kit
SNP Pass (if you have)
The club provides:
A seat in a car
Gas money for drivers (+30%)
Drivers get priority as always and I will determine the number of hikers depending on the number of cars.
