Corner of Echols
Corner of Echols
Turk Mountain Trailhead, Waynesboro, VA, USA
basically the title.
Ok fine there is a little bit more to it than that. over spring break i realized i haven’t been to shenandoah since last year because of the stupid snow and ice and cold, but now its warm(er) and things are looking up. This friday is friday the 13th which is crazy because it is actually our second friday in the 13th in a row AND there will be another friday the 13th in November. The weather will also be appropriately creepy with wind and chillier temperatures than the rest of this very warm week so bring layers. We are going to go to turk mountain to watch the sunset which will be at (checks notes) 7:19 PM – thanks daylight savings! This is a 2.5 mile round trip hike with 700 feet of elevation gain which is beginner friendly but please don’t wear flip flops.
Unfortunately I do not have a car so drivers are needed! If you have a car you will get priority and will also be eligible for gas reimbursement if you arrive at Echols with a full tank of gas. I will add more people to this trip if we get multiple drivers.
I have one America the Beautiful national parks pass that will cover one car with up to five people, so if you have a parks pass you will ALSO get priority off the waitlist. I have no idea if there will actually be anyone collecting fees but better safe than sorry.
