Spoon carving! 🥄

OVERVIEW

Maybe you’re an environmental science major, maybe you wear Chacos or Bedrock sandals, maybe you have a Nalgene with a bunch of cool stickers from sick, dope, gnarly places you’ve been and outdoors brands you love, perhaps all three
but it still doesn’t feel like enough.
Your friends are a little tired of hearing about your road trip, backpacking trip, ski trip, paddle trip, bouldering problem, sunrise hike, etc…and you need to reaffirm to them your outdoorsy-ness
yOU are the crunchy friend!
Presenting:
an opportunity to make your very own, wooden spoon! It’s portable, durable, and perfect to whip out in the dining hall to show everyone that you don’t need any shiny, overly-sanitized University Utensils, only your trusty, flavor-saving, hand-crafted spoon!

Details:
We will each make a spoon by gradually burning out a bowl using a coal from the fire and then carving the handle and head of the spoon. This takes some patience but is not too difficult. In the time we have, we will be able to get most of the way through the process. This trip is open to anyone, not just the Chaco-wearing, Nalgene-owning, ENVS majors out there.

Bring:
– a sharp pocket knife (see if anyone you know has one you can borrow if you don’t own one, we’ll have some extras)
