OVERVIEW

Come to St. John for Spring Break and do some scuba, paddling, hiking, or just enjoy the beach… and meet some new friends while you’re at it. We will be renting some sweet tents that are located beachfront in Cinnamon Bay. There’s something for everyone!

~~~~ www.cinnamonbay.com ~~~~
everything you need to know about where we are staying! with the exception of the cost of renting equiptment. I will update the adventure with the current cost of renting as soon as I can speak with someone from the campground.
——-Enjoy the beach! and our luxiorious Tent!———-
We will be staying on the beach! Durable tents are designed to be both comfortable and efficient. Each tent, made of high-quality canvas, is 10 by 14 feet, with a solid floor. Cots, picnic table, charcoal grill, propane gas stove, ice chest, water container, gas lantern, and cooking and eating utensils are provided. Bedding is provided upon arrival, and fresh linens are available at the front desk twice a week.
——–Snorkeling/ Sailboats/ Windsurfers———
You can rent the equipment from the front desk at the location where we will be staying. Price: TBA
———Hiking —————-
St. John is 2/3 of state park. There is plenty to be explored!
——-SEA KAYAKING!——–
Sea kayaks can be rented from the front desk. Price: TBA
———-Other Notes————————
This should be a great trip, so come and just enjoy yourself. We will be leaving Charlottesville on Saturday to go to Dulles Airport where we will fly into St. Thomas. From there we will be taxiing/ferrying to our final destination on St. John. We will return on Friday, March 10th.
Let me know if there’s anything in particular that you want to do and we’ll try and make it happen! I will be compiling a list of all the great hikes and other things to do before we go by reading books/talking to others who have previously visited the island, your input is welcome, even if you aren’t coming along!
——–WHAT TO BRING———
Bathing suit, towel, sun tan lotion, credit card for anything that will cost money, bug spray, Frisbees, sand castle tools … anything you want to bring.
——–UVA Outdoors Provides——–
FOOD: UVa Outdoors provides some money for meals once we arrive in St. John, food will most likely be more expensive here so I am including an extra fee for food (which you will get back if it isn’t used). You will want to bring money to eat out while you are there.
SLEEPING and TRANSPORTATION: some of the lodging fee will be provided by the club. Gas for cars to the airport, and a seat in a car will also be provided. It would be great if you could let me know if you live/know someone who lives in NOVA and that could drop us off at the airport!
——–UVA Outdoors Does NOT Provide—–
By this point I guess you were wondering how we would actually get there. I have found some pretty cheap flights into St. Thomas (you can’t fly to St. John) that range between 300 and 400 dollars.
I hope that everyone will be able to book the same flight, I will be buying my ticket on Friday and will buy anyone elses at that time (this is the best option, cheapest & easiest) that has joined the trip and can write me a check for the ticket. I will send out the flight number on Friday to anyone who can’t buy theirs with us on Friday for any reason.
Once we get to St. Thomas, you will be responsible for paying your own way in a taxi and on the ferry to get to St. John. Directions for how to get there are on http://www.cinnamonbay.com/cinferrytaxi.htm .I expect this to cost about $60 a person getting there and back, it may be cheaper depending on when you arrive (before 5:30 pm you can ferry over to St. John for the low price of $7, then catch a taxi from there.)
The cost is broken down as follows:
Lodging: 130.00
Taxi/Ferry: 60.00 +/- if you want to explore the island by taxi or daytrip to St. Thomas
Food: $50 + Whatever you want for eating out
Airfare: ~300 If we get it SOON!
What needs to be paid to me ASAP if you want to join in:
Lodging: $130.00
Food: $50.00
Depending on how much things cost, you will MOST likely get some of this money back!
Also, the sooner you buy your plane ticket, the cheaper it will be and the more chance we can all get on the same flight!
You can get me money by sending it/driving it/walking it to:
133 N Piedmont Avenue
Charlottesville, Va 22903
OR
I am on grounds everyday, shoot me an email and let me know where/when you can meet.
