Spy Rock Late Night/Sunrise/Backpacking?

OVERVIEW

So I’ve recently discovered that there’s these things called “classes” with “exams” and idk how I feel about that (who thought this was a good time for a beach trip anyway?). Fortunately, I’m done with that stuff till finals after Wednesday night, so lets celebrate by going backpacking!(if 3 miles even counts?)

Spy rock is a super short(1.6 mi each way) hike, with a pretty decent campsite at the top just before you get to the rock scramble.

THE PLAN:
10PM – leave Echols. This should put us at the trailhead around 11:15ish and at the campsite right around midnight. Then we can either make a fire and chill for a while or just get some sleep
2:30ish – get woken up by idiots playing hide and seek?
6AMish – Wake up, do the rock scramble to get to the summit;watch the sunrise
7AM – pack up, head back down to the parking lot
9:30 – get back to Charlottesville

I don’t see any reason we wouldn’t be back by 10, but I’m not making any guarantees, so its on you if you want to come on this trip. I have an 11 AM that I plan on (maybe) going to, so we’ll definitely be back by then.

WHAT TO BRING:
Backpacking backpack
Tent/Hammock
Sleeping bag – for best results, you’ll want to sleep inside this
Sleeping pad
warm layers to sleep in
slightly less warm layers to hike in
sturdy shoes
headlamp/flashlight
water – 3ish liters; there’s no water source there
food – really just breakfast and maybe a midnight snack(literally)

You can get a tent/sleeping bag/pad from the gear room, but you’ll need to pick them up yourself, since I really should be studying next week.

If other people actually want to do this in the middle of the week,I will need another driver. Gas is reimbursed +50% tip
