Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
New River Gorge
Just like last weekend, this is going to be a “quick and dirty” trip to the New River Gorge. We’ll head out on Saturday afternoon, crash somewhere (possibly Ray’s), and climb all day Sunday, returning Sunday night. (We will not stop for dinner on the way on Saturday – eat beforehand!)
Breakfast will be hot and will consist of oatmeal with (or without if you prefer) cranberries, raisins, peanut butter, brown sugar, and flax seed.
We’ll be going to a moderate level crag, so if you can climb 5.9 and beyond, you’re welcome to join this trip. Drivers and lead climbers/belayers get priority as usual. I’m thinking Fern Point at the moment as our destination, but that’s always subject to change.
Minimal teaching will be happening this trip, but of course you’re always welcome to review the skills you know.
Trip size will start at 5 and expand as drivers sign up.
Forecast is for a low of 36 on Saturday night, high of 59 on Sunday under partly sunny skies. PERFECT climbing weather. Dress accordingly 🙂
What to bring: climbing/camp gear (see above forecast), food for lunch/snacks, $$ for dinner on Sun, layers (wool/synthetic are great), knife, first aid kit, 2L+ water, headlamp, trail shoes & crag shoes, camera
Club provides: climbing/camp gear you need, ga$ reimbursement, breakfast, an awesome time
