Corner Of Echols Dorm
Corner Of Echols Dorm
George Washington & Jefferson National Forest, Millboro, VA, USA
Hello hiker people!!
Is there a better way to spend your Sunday than going on a 7 (ish) mile, out-and-back hike in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest? I think not! Hanging Rock is a moderate hike that follows the AT with some pretty spectacular looking views at the top, and the weather on Sunday is shaping up to make it a good day to enjoy it.
We will be leaving from the echols dorm at 9:00am and we should get back to uva at around 3:30pm. It is about a 40 minute drive to the hike (yours truly will be driving). It looks like temps will range from 45-60 degrees fahrenheit during the hike, so pack layers accordingly!
Hike Details:

– Expect steep climbs/descents throughout
– Length: 7.2 Miles (out and back)

– It looks like some parts of this hike can be a little muddy after weather events, so be prepared!
You Should Bring:
– Hiking shoes/Boots
– A backpack
– Layers that are easy to take off as it gets hotter throughout the day (avoid cotton)
– any snacks/lunch that you may desire during the hike
– About a liter of water (and a bottle/camelbak!)
