Sunday Hightop Mountain

OVERVIEW

For all those club members unable to attend NRGE this weekend, here is a chance to get some hiking in! On Sunday, we will go to Hightop Mountain, a 50 minute drive from Charlottesville in SNP. The leaves have been starting to change so the overlook here will be a great opportunity to admire the fall trees!

We shall depart at 9:30am giving a chance for everyone to sleep. It will also be warmer when we arrive if we go later. Let’s round up and give ourselves four hours for hiking and eating lunch. We should be back by 3:30pm, most likely earlier.

DRIVERS NEEDED AND GET PRIORITY! Gas reimbursed plus tip! Members will be waitlisted until drivers sign up.

Please bring:
-layers (the high is around 60 degrees but still bring at least a good jacket or sweatshirt)
-sturdy shoes, the hike is 5.6 miles
-water (2L at least)
-lunch/snacks – plan to eat at the overlook!
-SNP park pass if you’d like but I’m planning to renew mine when we arrive at the gate
