Corner of Echols
Also Corner of Echols Dorm
White Rock Gap, Virginia, USA
The weather is currently looking great on Sunday…sunny and highs in the mid 50s! While it is still Winter, I want to go up to the Ridgeline before the vegetation grows back and we have to bushwack. You DO NOT NEED OUTDOOR CLIMBING EXPERIENCE TO JOIN. There are a whole bunch of classics up there including:
– Bear Grylls (V3/4)
– Belly Flop (V4)
– Holy Shitake (V5)
– Pinch an Inch (V6)
– Green Goblin (V6/V7)
– Mycotic Break (V8)
You do not need outdoor climbing experience to join this trip! I would mostly suggest being comfortable with at least V4s at Slaughter simply because while there are plenty of V0-V3 climbs up on the Ridgeline, they’re a little more challenging to find (e.g. I nor friends know those lines) and my understanding is they are not as good quality.
What You Bring
– LAYERS LAYERS LAYERS
– CLIMBING SHOES (PLZ)
– Food (why people never bring snacks is beyond me but if you think you might get hungry after being outside for 3 hours then bring food)
– Chalk
What I Bring
– Climbing Pads
– Knowledge of where the boulders are
RISK
Please note that climbing is an inherently risky sport. That however does not mean that risk cannot be managed. You should only climb as much and as high up as you are comfortable with. We also have pads and spotters to make sure that falls are safe!
