I don’t know about you, but I think my two weeks of solitude have showed me life’s true values: laughing with a real live human, bathing ourselves in the sun’s first rays, and moving through the air in a vertical motion. And Thursday morning is shaping up to be the PERFECT time to engage in these fundamental pursuits.
Come join me, daughters and sons of Homo Sapiens, brothers and sisters of Homo Floresiensis (side note: humans that are basically hobbits, I almost couldn’t believe it was true), to convene and practice our most ancient skill: the art of a good climb. After two weeks of floundering up and down from my bunkbed to hop on Zoom, I now feel deeply that vertical ascending will help all of us thrive to our evolutionary roots. So, join me outside Slaughter at 6AM to do a little climbin and hangin out, then we’ll take the adventure into the grand outdoors to feel the sunrise, ponder which vegetable Thursday would be if it were a vegetable, and likely concoct some closed-eyed contour drawings of our natural surroundings that usually make me laugh for a few solid weeks (I will bring extra paper/pencils, feel free to bring your own too!). We’ll start at 6 and finish up around 7:20-7:30 and kick off what is already becoming a beautiful day of Thurs!!
I would love for anyone to come, regardless of climbing experience—I mostly just flounder around and feel the embrace of the soft warm mats, and the gym is mostly empty that early anyway so we can make this whatever kind of climbing adventure we’re feeling. I WILL BE VERY EXCITEDLY WAITING OUTSIDE SLAUGHTER AT 6 TO SEE YOU AND I AM ALREADY SO THRILLED FOR EVERY PART OF OUR VERTICAL ADVENTURES.
