Hi friends,
Want a nice end to your weekend? Join me Sunday for a sunset hike to Blackrock Summit. The summit has a cool rock scramble and some of the best 360 views in Shenandoah National park, but the hike itself is only a mile long loop, making this the perfect trip for any beginner hikers.
Daylight Savings ends on Sunday, so sunset will be at 5:10. We will hangout on the summit for a bit to watch the sunset, and I will bring warm apple cider for us to share. I can drive and also have a park pass for Shenandoah, but if we have another driver + park pass, it would be great to bring more people. Drivers and those with a national park pass will get priority off the waitlist.
3:30: leave Echols
4:30: arrive at trailhead and hike to summit
5:10: Say bye to the sun + apple cider
5:45: start hiking back
6:00: start driving back
7:00: get back to c’ville + drop people off
You should bring:
-warm layers because it will be chilly
-a headlamp for the walk back (the gear room has them)
-a cup/thermos if you wanna have apple cider
-snacks and water if you want
Drivers needed! Drivers get priority off the waitlist. The club reimburses for gas +50% tip! Drivers need to show up to Echols with a full tank of gas.
