Hello friends!

Are you feeling the weight of midterms on your shoulders? Screen time got you down? Wondering why every conceivable grocery store item must come wrapped in plastic? That one has been a big grievance for me recently. Well then…what might it look like to live a simple, sustainable life? Come join me on Saturday and meet some folks who might have some answers!

Imani Works is a nonprofit in Orange, VA that promotes human rights and sustainable living. We are going to learn about sustainable culture and what it takes to make a low impact on the earth’s resources. We will get a tour of the land and check out their trail system, learn about their sustainable farming practices, and potentially get our hands dirty helping them with a couple of small projects like soil mixing and trimming back some plants. Also, they apparently make guitars out of gourds… I have no idea how that fits into this whole thing but I sure would like to find out!!!

We will meet at Echols at 10 am then drive there and get our tour and hang out until 2. You will be back no later than 3. Pretty awesome. Day well spent.

What to bring:
– Water
– Snacks/lunch
– Good walking shoes
– LOTS OF ENERGY AND EXCITEMENT WOOOOO WOOOO

– Propagation of fruit trees
– Soil composition and mixing
– Field Preparation
– Biotoilets?!
