The Best of Water and Rocks (Beginner-Intermediate Hiking)

OVERVIEW

SNP PASS HOLDERS AND DRIVERS NEEDED (I can fit 4 people in my car, can add more people to the trip if we get another driver!)

2 hikes, 1 day! One hike gives us WATERFALLS, the other gives us a fun ROCK SCRAMBLE, so you can have the best of both!

We’ll start at Dark Hollow Falls, a 1.6 mile trail with 580ft of elevation gain. This will take a little over an hour to complete.
Next, we’ll drive ~10 minutes down the road to the Bearfence Trail, a 1.0 mile trail with some steep sections and a rock scramble. This second hike will also take a little bit over an hour.
Because of the rock scramble, this trip is rated beginner-intermediate, but should be doable if you have at least some hiking experience!

Itinerary:
-9:00am pickup at Echols
-10:30am: Arrive at Shenandoah National Park, Dark Hollow Falls Trailhead.
-12:00pm: Finish Dark Hollow Falls, take a quick snack break.
-12:30pm: Drive 10 minutes down the road from Dark Hollow Falls to the Bearfence Trailhead.
-12:40pm: Start Bearfence.
-2:00pm: Finish Bearfence.
-3:30pm: Arrive back at UVA, drop off anywhere of your choosing!

Bring:
-Hiking shoes
-Water (at least 1 liter)
-A snack/lunch
