the devil went up

OVERVIEW

i know it’s a monday, so the likelihood of people able to go on this trip is slim to none BUT i have the day off and want to spend it on the mountain. i know my good pal kevin has mondays off of class, so i’m hoping this is the case for a few others OR that it’s late enough in the semester that you’re ready to skip.

i stumbled upon this 6 mile loop on all trails & figured i’d give it a whirl. based on the description, it starts out quite steep, but is made fun by some rock scrambling, stream crossings and waterfall viewings. unfortunately, i’m directionally challenged and reviews say it can be hard to keep track of the blue blazes, so this is bound to be an adventure. it is also advised that we go counterclockwise, read more here: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/virginia/little-devils-stairs-trail?ref=result-card or https://www.hikingupward.com/SNP/LittleDevilsStairs/.

the plan:
10 AM leave in the culdesac by the castle
10:30 AM trailhead
~3.5 hours of hiking~
2:00 PM back to our cars
3:30 PM back in cville
**these times are flexible, please indicate in the questions section, if you’d like to go, but need to either be back earlier or leave later. willing to negotiate**

to bring:
– sturdy, water-resistant shoes for stream crossings
– layers
– lunch/snacks
– 2L+ water
– SNP pass
