What is the Green Race you may ask? Well only the dopest most craziest whitewater kayak race of all time! This thing is legendary. Whitewater kayakers from all over the world will migrate to Saluda NC to go fast down the Green River Narrows, an ultra technical super steep section of class V whitewater. Racers will blaze through this legendary course dropping 300 feet over one mile in times as little as 4 minutes. This race attracts the best of the best in the whitewater community, from local legends to olympic athletes, rivalries run deep and no outcome is guaranteed. So now that you can’t live without bearing witness to the 28th Annual Green Race, you’re probably wondering, well gee, how can I watch it? Glad you asked. Since I’m not making the pilgrimage to the Narrows this year, I’m planning to live stream it for the low low price of $40. If you sign up and want to come watch, you should totally help chip in for the cost! I’ll give my venmo to ppl off the waitlist the day of the race. Rally a friend and make it even cheaper! This race beautifully coincides with when I’d be tailgating for a home football game anyways so my plan is to have some food and bevs as well (though not guaranteed). Bring some of your own to share and we’ll get a great potluck/tailgate vibe going! Race starts at High Noon and I’m gonna try to set up a tv outside of my house (117 Washington, across from Shrack).
