Three Ridges/ A.T. Hike Parking, Beech Grove Road, Roseland, VA, USA
BACKPACKING ALERT BACKPACKING ALERT. Come backpacking with me !!!!
We will be hiking the superb three ridges loop (roughly 13-14 miles and 4k ft of elevation) over two days and camping at the Harper’s Creek Shelter/nearby campsite. I love this loopppppppp. I listed this as intermediate but if you feel comfortable hiking the distance/elevation I am happy to help with any 1st time backpacking needs. There will be some water on the trails, buttttt best to carry extra. Looking for more drivers! I can only take four bodies in my car while following legal safety precautions. Below is a rough schedule of each day:
Saturday:
10:00am- Meet at Echols and head out
11:00am- Arrive at trailhead
Hike ~7-9 miles on the AT & Mau-Har trails, stopping to take pictures and fuel up
(unknown evening time) – arrive at camp site and set up, dine and chill. I CAN BRING CARDS and we can do spoon making too 😀
Sunday:
8:00 am wake-up for yoga? Meditation? Journaling?
9:00am hit the trails for 6-7 miles of hiking
1-2pm- get back to the cars
3:00pm ish- return to Cville
What you need (some of this gear can be rented out from the gear room!!!):
-Backpack
-Tent/Hammock/sleeping set up or a friend with these things
– Water filter (the group might have one but don’t count on it!)
– Snackies, meals. Remember, you will need more calories than usual!
– Jetboil/stove if you need (I will have one but not enough for everyone)
-Headlamp
-Appropriate shoes
– Toilet paper
-2L+ carrying capacity for water
– bug spray/sunscreen as you see fit
-extra socks, extra clothes if you feel the need (no shame in being smelly)
I will bring a bear bag but you are welcome to bring your own, I plan to make a group chat to coordinate any shared gear (or food potentially???) ahead of time
