Three Ridges Beginner Backpacking Trip -Canceled

OVERVIEW

This is a beginners backpacking trip, no prior experience necessary. This is one of the most popular circuit hikes on Blue Ridge Parkway, and it is an absolute beautiful hike! It should be a great time and a great and fairly easy introduction to backpacking if you’ve never been before.

We will leave around 9am on Saturday, and will only be hiking 7 miles Saturday, and 7 miles on Sunday so it shouldn’t be too strenuous if your a beginner. Friday night we will spend a beautiful night under the stars making dinner and enjoying a campfire, then it shouldn’t take us too long to hike back after breakfast so we should be back at the car by around noon then only a short car ride back to cville.
I’l also be driving to the grocery store on Wednesday night if anyone wants to come with me to stock up on food for the trip, or needs help deciding what to bring.

What to Bring(you can pick these things up at the gear room):
A backpack
Sleeping bag
Sleeping pad
headlamp

Club provides:
Gas money
gear

You also need to provide:
Water (probably about 3 liters. We’ll have access to a stream, so we can filter some water out to replenish the bottles/bladders)
Food!(I’ll bring a stove we can cook with and a pot but you’ll need enough food for two days, and again email me or come grocery shopping with me if you need help with what to bring. Its 5 dollars for shared food, but if you just want to bring your own food you don’t have to pay, but please let me know which option your opting for)
Snacks for the trail-powerbars are good
Good shoes-hiking boots preferable
Clothes-especially warm ones for night

There is a gear room tomorrow Wed. at 530, but if you can’t make this other arrangements might be able to be made

I will bring tents and cookware, and I only have my car so I can only take 3 other people, but if someone else joins with a car we can add more people.
