Ray's Campground (Hico, WV)
Summersville, WV
Okay hear me out.
Last weekend, for reasons I will not get into right now, I ended up having the surprising pleasure of stargazing in the nude. And let me tell you, it gave me a deeper connection to the nature around and above me than I had ever experienced. So much so that I think other people should experience it too! So, I propose that we go stargazing in the nude at Summersville lake early Saturday night at NRGE.
Still with me? Great! Now some logistics.
The ‘hike’ to the meadow we’re going to is only about 5min from the parking lot, but is seldom traveled after dark since it’s an approach for a rock climbing area. (i.e. no prying eyes).
A couple ground rules:
1. No being creepy: No one wants to be gawked at. This trip is for your own personal connection to the cosmos, not to someone else’s body.
2. If you wouldn’t say it to someone when they’re clothed, don’t say it at all.
3. No pictures unless you have express consent of those in the picture. The same goes for sharing those pictures.
4. All in all, be respectful like you would in any other situation
Sunset is at 6:49pm on Saturday, so the departure time will be some time after that. My thinking is we’ll head out after the pizza dinner (most likely ~8pm), stargaze for ~1hr (or more if we’re feelin’ it), and be back for the friendship shenanigans back at the campsite.
What YOU bring:
A blanket
Some stories
A free spirit
What I bring:
My lack of knowledge about the cosmos
The knowledge of where we’re going
Some bad jokes to ease the tension
