Carderock
Carderock
We’ll spend the day at Carderock, just outside Washington D.C., learning how to setup some simple top ropes (important if you ever want to go climbing on your own outside) and then climbing on them. This trip is suitable for anyone, including complete beginners.
However, since we are not meeting up at Echols, the club will not be supplying harnesses and shoes for this trip (although I do have a smallish-medium and a small harness I can lend if you are ok climbing in tennis shoes. Just let me know).
We will be officially meeting at the Carderock climbers parking lot (that’s the furthest parking lot upstream, i.e. make a right when you enter Carderock and keep on going to the end). However, if you live in Charlottesville, we can also try setting up a carpool.
I had to pick an end time so I set it to 5pm, but we can of course leave earlier or later if people want.
Don’t forget to bring some water and something to eat. Usually I’d also say to bring some rain gear, but it’s supposed to be gorgeous Sunday! 🙂
