Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Seneca Rocks
We’ll be going to Seneca to do some multi-pitch trad (for the advanced climbers) and easy to hard top rope climbing for everyone else. As long as you know how to belay and tie in, this trip is suitable for you as we’ll have some easy top ropes set up.
The plan is Aarash and I will each guide advanced climbers up to the very top of Seneca and back down (about 2-3 pitches of trad climbing). If you’ve had experience trad climbing (and it’s ok with Aarash and me), then we can alternate leads going up. Otherwise (and this is probably most people), Aarash and I will do all the leading and you’ll just follow and clean the gear. The only requirement for doing the multi-pitch is that you have experience with belaying a leader and be super solid at 5.8 (if you can belay a leader you probably climb at least 5.9 so this shouldn’t be a problem). This is a great introduction to trad climbing and if you are seriously interested in climbing, you should definitely come on this trip!
While Aarash and I are taking people up, everyone else can be top rope climbing.
The club will pay for dinner Friday and Saturday at the Front Porch Restaurant and for breakfast Saturday. You need to bring a lunch for Saturday.
The club can provide all climbing and camping gear if you need it.
If the trip is full, sign up anyways since I plan on letting in some people from the waitlist (I’m a such a nice guy!)
