Trad Climbing 101

OVERVIEW

More people need trad climbing in their life.

Join this trip to learn the basics to trad climbing, learn to trust the gear, and get your first trad lead in. Anyone who feels comfortable sport climbing and belaying are welcome. No prior trad experience necessary. Ben has his Single Pitch Instructor certification and I am just super stoked on trad so we are both equally qualified

We’ll go out to Wintergreen for the day where there is some chill trad climbing starting at 5.4. We’ll give you the run down on the gear and placing it, then we can test the gear and play around with placements on the ground, and finally, people who feel comfy can lead a route.

We are flexible with timing so we’ll figure out the actual schedule with the group.

You bring: shoes, chalk, helmet, harness, snacks, water
I’ll bring: trad rack, ropes, draws
