Trad Climbing Pro Placement Workshop

OVERVIEW

Okay, so a lot of folks are clearly ready to start breaking into the wonderful world that is trad climbing. I’ll be leading a few trad climbing trips (including some intro/baby’s first trad trips) in the coming weeks. If you’re interested in attending one of those trips and have not already had a robust primer, please try to attend this workshop.

This virtual workshop will cover the basics of traditional protection placements including:
– stopper placement
– cam placement
– hex placement
– extending pieces
– anchors
– point systems

Note: this is NOT a comprehensive trad how-to, nor is it any kind of substitution for real-world practice and experience. This is intended as a toe-dipping introduction into the complex, beautiful, exciting world of trad climbing.

Note: being an expert at placing pro does NOT make you a competent trad climber. Pro placement is but one of many skills necessary to be safe as you climb trad.

This will be a virtual session over google meets. There are no gear requirements other than a computer, wifi, and willingness to participate.
