OVERVIEW

First of all, if you didn’t look too closely at the trip times… you really, really should (Also the fact that this is technically during Spring Break). I was like “hm I should volunteer at some ultras, that’d be fun,” so I emailed the race organizers being like “u need help?” and before I knew it, I was assigned to be at an aid station from 4:45AM to 7PM LMFAO. So, uh, if any brave souls would like to join me, I figured it’d make it more fun. This race (Bel Monte) is in Waynesboro, about 45 mins from here, and has 25K, 50K, and 50 miler events, so we’ll get to see plenty of trail runners probably going through every feeling that has ever been felt.

Our job as people at the aid station is primarily to: restock aid station food/drink, record runner’s bib numbers as they come through, give runners directions if they need them, encourage runners/bring good vibes, communicate w/ race staff about any issues, and enforce cutoff times. It’ll be a chaotic and exciting time.

You need to bring:
-Caffeine, probably, given the wakeup time
-LAYERS: it will be chilly, and it very well may be rainy. The race (and the volunteering) must go on. Bring jackets, bring rain jackets, bring lower layers, bring a hat and gloves, etc etc
-Food/water for yourself for the day. I’m sure we can snag a few aid station goodies, but they’re primarily for the runners. We will have our good, good service $ of $7 per person for food, so we can determine how to use that 🙂
-A HEADLAMP
